Officially opened in 2018, Tuas Desalination Plant is owned and operated by PUB. Tuas Desalination Plant is the first in Singapore to use advanced pre-treatment technology, a combination of dissolved air-flotation and ultrafiltration. The desalination plant is also fitted with solar panels, with more than half of the total roof area covered by solar panels.
Tuas Desalination Plant was named Desalination Plant of the Year at Global Water Awards 2019.
