Rooftop Solar Systems

Overview

PUB has been installing rooftop solar panels at our water infrastructures and facilities since 2015, to harness solar energy for our operations. Currently, we have a total of 4.4 megawatt-peak (MWp) solar capacity spread out across the following buildings:

  • Bedok Waterworks
  • Choa Chu Kang Waterworks
  • Changi Water Reclamation Plant
  • Marina Barrage
  • Tuas Desalination Plant
  • Waterhub

In March 2021, PUB enrolled another 13 sites under the sixth SolarNova tender, a whole-of-government effort jointly led by the Housing Development Board (HDB) and the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) to install solar PV systems in Singapore. These 13 sites include the Tuas South Desalination Plant, Chestnut Avenue Waterworks, Lower Seletar Waterworks and several other raw water pumping stations and tidal gates, collectively amounting to around 7 MWp in solar capacity. The upcoming Tuas Water Reclamation Plant, part of the Tuas Nexus – Singapore’s first integrated water and solid waste treatment plant – will also have a 5 MWp rooftop solar PV system by 2025.
