The PUB Brand

Overview

The Public Utilities Board (PUB) was set up as a statutory board in 1963 to coordinate the supply of electricity, piped gas, and water for Singapore.

In 2001, PUB was reconstituted to become Singapore’s national water authority, overseeing the entire water loop. The sewerage and drainage departments from the then Ministry of the Environment were transferred to PUB. The regulation of electricity and gas industries, formerly undertaken by the PUB, was transferred to a new statutory board, the Energy Market Authority (EMA).

With the reconstitution, the Public Utilities Board is now known as PUB, the national water agency or PUB, Singapore's national water agency in public communication materials and non-legal documents.

Refreshed PUB Logo

Recently refreshed in 2016, the PUB corporate logo has been specially designed as one unit, with the relationship of its elements locked in. This was done with the aim to reinforce PUB’s branding as the nation’s water authority, and that PUB no longer oversees the electricity and gas functions in Singapore.

Elements of the refreshed PUB logo:

  • the symbol – the three swirls forming an elliptical shape represents the water cycle. The three swirls represent the three major functions of PUB i.e., water services, sewerage and drainage. The three different shades of blue in the swirl represent three different types of water i.e., seawater, reclaimed water (NEWater) and catchment water.
  • the namestyle – PUB – are letters based on the acronym of Public Utilities Board. This is specially designed as one unit to symbolise the fluid and efficient water resource management of which the organisation is well known for.
  • the description – Singapore’s National Water Agency – reflect PUB’s role as the national water utility managing all of Singapore’s water resources in an integrated manner.
